    Tickover Trubbles!

Well, got the MoT today, clean as a whistle! Fault codes x 2 = A) - Throttle Sensor, & B) - Airbag... now cleared off. (Throttle sensor was my fault - mentioned elsewhere - and airbag fault is...well.. a dud airbag, basically...:D) Anyway, it still feels slightly slow/rough on tickover, and the...

    Which Engine Oil, Please?

Ta, chaps! I'll take a squint in Wilco's - I bought some Castrol Magnatec for a petrol engine) in there recently, a heck of a lot cheaper than other retailers! Think I'll leave their Comma Oil line alone, though - that's mostly re-fortified, recycled gloop, in my experience, & lasts about...

    Which Engine Oil, Please?

Hi, all! A very basic question, this time - Whih oil do you recomend for my 2.7TDi? I understand that turbo-ed engined need something a bit tougher than the average lube, due to the heat in the 'charger?:nenau Just thinking of an oil-change soon, that's all...

Starts, Ticks Over, But No Throttle Response...

Seems like that, eh? I can only surmise that the very first millimetre or so of the rotation of the sensor is linked with the switch in such a way that one cancels-out the other if the adjustments aren't quite coincidental..ish... Summat like that, anyway... I ain't gonna take the bloody thing...

Swap Manual Maverick For Auto, Anyone?

Haven't got time to do a stretch-limo job on it, I'm afraid! 8-)

Starts, Ticks Over, But No Throttle Response...

Sorted!!! ...It was a self-inflicted problem! A little while ago, I asked if the tickover level could be adjusted up, & Clivvy answered with a mention of the throttle pedal sensor, and the possiblity that it might be possible to tweak a tiny adjustment from it by rotating it a tiny bit on its...

Swap Manual Maverick For Auto, Anyone?

Hi, all! Got a P-reg 2.7TDi Ford Maverick, manual gearbox - but my hip/knee/ankle is giving me hell, even though the clutch & box is easy - so I'm looking to swap for an automatic 4X4 of similar age/condition (see "'Tis Mine!" in Show Us Yours forum). I don't mind petrol or diesel, so long as...

    'Tis Mine!!!!

Ok, now I've been driving it a while, I've realised that a manual 'box is not the best thing for me; it's a good one, drives fine, etc - but my joints in my left leg/hip are protesting painfully! Anyone out there interested in a swap for an automatic Mav'/Terrano/WHY? Doesn't need to be...

Starts, Ticks Over, But No Throttle Response...

Haven't had time yet, Briggie - it's my call-out rota weekend & it's going barmy, plus I've just lost my eldest cat to a severe stroke yesterday (bit upset, to say the least)... :( Luckily, I've got a works van for daily use, so there's no hurry to sort the Mav' - I'll get down to it tomorrow...

Starts, Ticks Over, But No Throttle Response...

Don't think it's sticky flaps (or butterfly, I suppose it oughta be called!) - but I'll check, as the filters were crudded right up when I replaced them. Kwondo, the radio & everything else worked - just the throttle didn't do anything except the merest hint of a few extra revs just once, then...

Starts, Ticks Over, But No Throttle Response...

Cheers, chaps - I'll take a peek at the weekend... Bound to be something stupid...

Starts, Ticks Over, But No Throttle Response...

...From my 2.7TDi Maverick! Hmm... Turned the key, let the glow-plug light go off, started fine & ran at tickover...but no revs at all when the accelerator pedal's squeezed. Yes, the engine-check light came straight on, but I'm damned if I know what's wrong; and ideas, please, my friends? :nenau

    New Toy Cut Out Today...

Thought it'd be summat too flippin' complimicated...! We'll see, then - I'll give it a while & see how it likes its clean breathing & drinking, then... Yep, ticks over between 650-700rpm, always feels a little ropey at start, then feels like it might cut on decelerating...given the past few...

    New Toy Cut Out Today...

Well - fingers crossed, and all that... All the kit's fitted, plus a bottle of K-Seal for the drippy-drip - and it appears to have settled down at last!! :thumbs I've been for a few laps of our housing estate to get it settled & warmed up, checked the leak, seen it's easing off, so I trundled...

    New Toy Cut Out Today...

Ok - replaced the air filter (clogged totally black!) & gently cleaned the MAF, replaced the fuel filter (judging by the state of it, an original fitment from the factory...)...and what a pong! I've discovered that the previous owner of the vehicle (who lost it to a creditor and evidently didn't...

    Yoo-Hoo From Silly Suffolk!

Might seem a stupid question, but am I right in guessing that the 2.7TDi engines are push-rod, single-cam jobbies? I ask, simply because I've got so used to seeing cam-belt casings in front of engines and lumpy great cambox/valve covers on top these days, that I was surprise to note the absence...

    Battery Defunctus?

I think I can safely assume that my Maverick 2.7TDi's battery is somewhat 'defuncticated'... Last Saturday, the motor turned over sluggishly; I drove across town about 7 miles, then another 3 to Asda Ipswich, then it slugged a poor start-up. Got half-mile from home, it conked out with a big...
