    Engine Pre-Heater

I thought that as well I know the UK doesn't really get that cold but its only 2 miles to work for me so the terrano doesn't really warm up plus its think of the stress thats removed from the engine with it already being warm.

    Engine Pre-Heater

I've seen the mains powered one's Rick, My aunt and uncle live in Canada and have to plug the cars in overnight in winter to stop them freezing solid. These are a diesel powered unit and are completely self contained on the car, You can buy them in a kit with a timer for about £500 but where's...

    Engine Pre-Heater

Well after 4 days I got my terrano back from the bodyshop but its all welded up and waxoyled, But for £200 it should survive another few winters. Ive been using a Peugeot 308 for the last few days and with this cold spell were currently having it was completely frozen up this morning, But after...

    Rear Brake problem

That's quite unusual Jim, As you know the point of the load sensing valve is to stop the rear wheels locking but with wheel speed sensors and an abs pump does yours still have rear wheel sensors or is it abs on the front wheels only?

    Rear Brake problem

You only have a load sensing valve with a non ABS system, Get yourself on a nice quiet road and stamp on the middle pedal. Does it lock all 4 wheels? If it does the problem lies with the ABS system either the pump or the ECU on the back of it. I personally hate ABS and have disconnected mine but...

    Average mileage before clutch change?

I've also fitted the 3ltr clutch in mine I changed mine at 103,000 miles and honestly it was the original clutch and it wasn't in that bad a condition. It probably would have done another 50,000 miles. The release bearing though was goosed and needed changing. In regards to the 3ltr clutch I...

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Cant take 2mm out of the seat Rick they wouldnt last and you would end up with awful recession. Hence why you pocket the pistons.

    Engine rebuild and power mods

I think the majority of the industrial/forklift units were non turbo hence the flat top and higher compression.

    Engine rebuild and power mods

The contours in the top of the piston are to aid the flow of the combustion gases as they exit the pre-combustion chamber some td27 industrial engines dont have them and just have a flat top piston.

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Pocketing the pistons does sound like the way to go mate and then try timing it up again.

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Pete once you set the bottom end to 109 past tdc did you set the cam to its max lift and pop the sprocket on?
  17. luke1987

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Only just seen this but Rick is right the 9mm lift might be a little high especially as the head has now been skimmed. The other way around it would be to pocket the pistons slightly to accept the increased valve lift its easier to have done than grinding and tipping valves.

    Engine rebuild and power mods

Pete, Sorry I have been meaning to send you a message regarding this. Right you have all the data for dialling in your cam, the figure we need is the maximum valve lift and where it occurs. In your case its a 9mm lift at 109 degrees after TDC. So to get your cam spot on first we need to find...
