    Consult II Cable & ECUTalk

Thanks, now I get it. That would explain why the DIY instructions are based on the USB or serial Consult connector cables then.

Isolator Switch - where should I stick it!?

Thank you so much for the pointers. Is it possible to just remove it and do without the central locking or are there other components that it controls?

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

No the battery was less than a year old and never missed a beat starting my 2.9 Rexton and was topped up without over cooking every month. Plus was a decent 100A 900Ah. Never mind slightly less beefy replacement should be arriving tomorrow.

Isolator Switch - where should I stick it!?

Is an IMMU the immobilized and how did you fix it or was it a question of replacing it?

Isolator Switch - where should I stick it!?

Darn, a silly 300A red one is what I have ordered. However I should point out that the isolation is not for the heavy duty main lead to the starter as there is no indication of a drain on this cable. The problem is with a spur from the +ve clamp that feeds into the interior electrics and is less...

Isolator Switch - where should I stick it!?

I have a voltage leak which is from the interior lights and I have a hunch, the alarm. Therefore so as to protect the new battery an isolator switch, accessable from the outside, is the immediate solution whilst further tests can take place. My question is has anyone found, or can they...

    Minor oil ingress beneath Intercooler

Just keep to the recommended oil change intervals to reduce wear. However is the leak on the drivers side of the ingercooler? If so then more likely from the EGR if you have one. Well worth blocking the thing off with a blanking plate. Easy to make up, I have in the past made one up from a few...

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

Last night battery was at 12.8v when -ve disconnected. Today reconnected and battery down to 12.2v - failure to launch :( Seems like the starter has destroyed a perfectly good battery after all. I could weep.

    Consult II Cable & ECUTalk

Rather than building a Bluetooth diagnostic out of a 14 pin to usb diagnostic cable, as described in http://www.nissandatascan.com I was wondering if anyone had any joy using a 14 pin obd to 16 pin obd2 conversion cable with a Bluetooth obd2 16 pin plugged into it?

    Minor oil ingress beneath Intercooler

In a perfect world there would be none but a little is nothing to worry about. Check the clips on the rubber connections and perhaps provide an image just to confirm the amount is not excessive as that could indicate turbo wear.

    Terrano tuning

Cheers Rick much appreciated, although I was planning on doing the Evry mod first. However no more info required as I am pretty sure that I now know what to do and have resistors and potentiometer ordered up on ebay. Thought I might just try the 1k ohm resister on its own first in an attempt to...

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

Battery reconnected after 16 hours voltage 12.8v a little reluctant but started first attempt. Still not 100% happy with the starter so may get electrical test of battery alternator and starter tomorrow but in the meantime a battery isolator is probably the first step and then more investigating...

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

Thanks Rick. Just about to go test battery again now after leaving -ve connection off over night. I know it is a late start but I'm a bit poorly at the moment. When I tested the connection from alternator to battery yesterday the bulb did not light but I will test again

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

Thank you for the replies but sorry to disagree, the voltage from the alternator is not the voltage of the battery even when saturated a car battery will not hold 14.2 volts. Don't get drawn into a blinkered look at alternator and battery voltages. I charged the battery on a heavy duty charger...

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

To clarify the 14.2 volts.was output from alternator, read from a plug in volt meter in the cigar lighter, not the charge of the battery I shall however disconnect battery after taking a reading tonight and test again in the morning to see if it has dropped when disconnected.

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

So drove the car and after a few revs battery is charging at 14.2b happily. Just to make sure it was OK I charged it on the car whilst I dug about to find the fault code interface. Jumper in and got the fault code 12 flashed back at me. Check MAF circuit. As expected as had disconnected it...

Starter Motor types for 1998 Terrano II Tdi 2.7

So yesterday unplugged MAF and had a drive about, slight decrease in what already is a massively underperformance not a lot of difference so MAF most likely shot. Car was starting on the button with no issues, although obviously warm engine. Spent the morning looking into fault codes and...
