    off road day

Hi paulp, I am the GLASS rep for Hertfordshire, do not know of anything planned at the moment, but would suggest you look up a group called Twitch 4x4 on FaceBook (think they also have a website) they are based on Herts / Essex border and get out often and are very welcoming to new people...

    Automatic GearBox Oil Patrol Y61

Quick update the hose had failed, the pipes have a sharp barb to keep the pipe on, this had cut into the inside rubber hose and caused it to leak along the cotton between the two rubber sections. Replaced pipes no problem, however as my power steering needed bleeding afterwards, I assume this is...

    Oil light switch

When I bought my Patrol, the garage "serviced" it before I picked it up, turns out their idea of a service was to put the most horrid nasty oil they could find in it. Next morning I started it up and the oil light came on, this scared the life out of me but I did remember seeing something about...

    Automatic GearBox Oil Patrol Y61

The Patrol has two short rubber pipes in the metal lines from the Auto gearbox to the cooler to allow you to take the body off the chassis, these are located behind the nearside headlight, one of mine has started leaking, I am waiting for new pipe to fix it. My question is what oil do I put in...

    FreeWheeling Hubs

Took them off this morning and had a good look at them, what ever I do I can not get them to lock, so assume something inside has broken although I do not understand why both not working as surely once one breaks the drive takes the path of least resistance ie the broken one. Kind regards Russell.

    FreeWheeling Hubs

My 2003 Patrol has the standard free wheeling hubs on the front wheels, recently had the swivels done and have noticed that the hubs no longer lock up and I also believe they are failing to engage in auto mode. Has my mechanic left something out I would be happy if I could just turn them to lock...

    Patrol GR Build.

I used ironman for my 2 inch lift and I was told it would not need castor correction and in some cases castor correction could cause more problems than it solved as the bolts pass through the bush very close to the edge. Mine is a bit flighty to drive on a motorway but in no way unmanageable...

    Patrol GR Build.

Looking great have they just fitted or have you had to do any adjustments. Regards washer jets for headlights do not throw them away, I broke one of mine on a tree and a replacement from Nissan is £106.00 so I fitted a Land Rover Discovery 1 (look very similar but different fittings two 8 mm...

    Stabi Off light

Mine never stayed on until I lifted the suspension, once you do this I think it becomes harder for the device to lock up again as the angles are changed, not really tested mine as only had the mod on for two days but it has not put the light on as yet. Kind regards Russell.

    Y61 Extended Drop Links

For those of you that do not know the Patrol has a switch on the dash that controls the operation of the rear ARB to allow it to flex more off road, the lump of ally I had machined both extended the drop link to allow for the lift and ment that the failed ball joint on the base of it was no...

    Y61 Extended Drop Links

On the back I made a drop link for one side the same as the front and also had this made up for the other side drop link.

    Y61 Extended Drop Links

As my Patrol has a 2 inch lift I needed to extend the drop links, these are the drop links I made for the front.

    2" Receiver.

I bought essentially the bit you can see from USA via ebay. then cut the old tow bar piece off leaving just the bar that goes from left to right. then cut and weld the receiver onto that remaining bar, also welded cut down plate for electrical socket and a plate with hole for anchor chain. Kind...

    2" Receiver.

I know about the legalities but best thing I ever did was remove the plough that was the tow bar and convert from 2 to 1 sockets, means I can off road without catching the back all the time. And also my trailer now tows at the correct height as you can get things like 0-12 inch drops on the tow...
