I plan on controlling the brightness with photographic flash gels, and acetate to diffuse the light. I've done similar with ccfls on a Renault dash befor1 :)

Thanks for all the helpful posts and offers. I've had autoglass out today and they fitted a new window, looks perfect tint wise, works nicely and no more glass in the car! £30 so I'm not arguing!
