I've been watching Tirfor winch videos, I think they are awesome

Bit of elbow grease needed but hey it's easy.

Some of them look quite small, i take it they all have "extender bars" to make the pumping easier??? :nenau

And lastly if I were to purchase a Tirfor winch do i still need adapters or can i just clip it to the 4x4 front or rear (same as a tow)? :nenau

Just connect to the front or rear recovery points:thumbs but do you have a to strop at the min? with a hand winch you would need a tree strop, shackles & poss a choker chain

If you're thinking of that size winch you might as well fit it up front and leave it there. They're heavy unwieldy lumps and you'll need it strapped down tight in the back of the truck. Have you got tie down points ?

I am reading, that particular model posted says 1600kg limit, is that the mechanism limit or just the type of cable on that one?

I would love a electric winch but far too bulky and involved. I love the idea of just having it in my boot and clip it on and pump away

And yes I have some sort of tow rope in the hidden compartment in the rear nearside :thumb2

Why is that winch so cheap? The one linked earlier.

All others seem to be lip to 700 squids?

It spreads the load on a tree as a winch wire can cut through a tree:augie but they are also used as tow ropes. I've had 2 strops from Danmar or something like that off ebay. As for recovery points you'll find 2 on the rear either side below the rear bumper lights (plate with 3 small holes for mounting a towbar & 1 large oval hole which a 3.25T shackle fits through) at the front you may or may not have the large hook on the drivers side if not nissan made the drivers side tie down loop longer & there is a shorter 1 on the passenger side. I managed to get a second hand recovery hook as mine didn't come with one:doh just got to find a second one now to mod to fit the N/S/F

Thanks dude. I've just been reading about the tirfors, didn't realise they measure in lifting force as opposed to pulling. And also they have a fail safe shear pin in the handle so I'm not going to cut off my arm or leg :thumb2

Question is, why is it so cheap?

I guess if i buy it, I should get new cable and bar for it? :nenau

email him and ask, does it work etc, then snipe it.
Arrange Interparcel to collect, job done. Don't worry about the cable, the shear pin will go 1st unless the wire is proper rusty. Just test it when you get it
