Weeelllll ....... I've just got a Midland 78 with a mini-springer aerial and a magnetic mount. I got it for greenlaning but haven't used it in anger yet. I'm pretty confident that it'll be fine for that.

Costs - have a look here: http://www.4x4cb.com/public/menu.cfm...rowse=Products

Benefits - now that's a hard one. I cannot help wondering whether CB wasn't just an impulse buy. I'll let you know when I know. :?

Cheers

Thanks for your replies... I remember the time when CB was a bit of a hobbyist sport.

I thought it might be quite a laugh if you could chat to fellow drivers - calling everyone in the vacinity with your 'tag' and asking for traffic info and other dodgy information ... remember the hitcher oooer ...

I guess chatting on your CB while driving down the motorway - honking at selfish truckers who pull out on yer without a moments warning is out of the question in these - no mobile phone + driving days ...

Never mind ... perhaps if I ever start greenlaning so I can hear people like dinky take the p out of me when I spill over!

I've found that there is still quiet a few people on the CB around here & a lot of truckers are still using it.
When me & cosmic went to Kielder Forest it was the only way to chat as there is no mobile phone signal in this area. I have found this to happen a in hilly areas such as Northumberland/Scotish boarders & when we went green laning in yorkshire phones were useless

Yes indeed - and you don't have to pay 35p per minute to O2 either.

I used to use a CB y e a r s ago, before they were legal,. then they became legal, everyone appeared to lose interest.
