LWB T2 Trailer
It might sound silly but when I get the funds I'm thinking of building a trailer from a LWB T2 as I've se it done with cars in the past.
I was thinking of chopping the front end off at the B posts& making a front panle with a window in it. I prob keep the rear doors to make easy to get in/out of the front end It's use well not sure, good for lumping stuff around or pos a very small weekend camper ? As you can see not 100% sure yet but would be fun project. What do you's think ? |

Your MAD : : : : :
You would have to consider removing the LSD part of the diff, could be a nightmare for towing it, if you left it in. |

go for it, someone posts some pix of an estate car with (almost from a pillar) matching twin/trailer.
seen in done in states where they hve a pickup then fabricate a trailer with anothe pickup bed on it. built of couse to go off road for long distance lane ( trail ) trips. always fancied it with a landy lwb, thought for further challange recreate the pto drive trailer drive mod experimented with, that said it was a bit of a flop, tended to try to turn the tug over. oh and make sure theres a tow bar on it and descreet red triangles so it looks like another trailer can be added. does seem a shame to be cutting a t2 up unless its had a very heavey frontal.

Landrover used to make a series 3 in 2 wheel drive. The axles were the same as a 4 wheel drive model, Just that the front axle had no guts in it and obviously no prop etc. They used to bolt a stub shaft to the axle, in place of the front hubs. maybe the same could be done here...
Just a thought.. |

Definitely different, like the idea to use it as a camper it would look good at the rallies.

I've seen it done before with smaller cars and it does look great. Def a novel idea and I'm sure unique in this country if not further a field. What a great project to write about on here though. Go for it!!!!!

you can never really get it right your axle will be in the wrong place the draw bar will be too long which will make it a nightmare to tow and the centre of gravity will be too high. Often when vehicles are converted to trailers the lights are also in the wrong postions but i haven't measured a terrano to find out.

Hello Terranokid.
Not to question your knowledge but how is it that lights can be in the wrong place when they are in the right place on the towing vehicle thats the same type? Maybe a simple answer. ops: Mav |

simple manufacturers lights arent always in the right place but who is going to argue with peugeot or ford when they have 1000's of vehicles on the roads but when mr plod stops you and your trailer they have to be right.

Thanks for the replies  I have'nt worked out how to do it yet : : If a LWB works out to big, then a SWB would be a beter option :? It would be a crash damaged T2 & all parts would be sold off & in the end it poss would pay for itself 8)
Anyway it was an idear all be it good or bad  |

I should stick with a LWB, SWB has next to no rear overhang so you'd either end up with a very short trailer or a very very front heavy one.
Not sure that the LSD would be that much of an issue as though it seems like it if you have a wheel jacked up, they don't lock up very well off load (thats off load on the pinion from the propshaft), thats why you only get trouble with the back end kicking out under power and not just when you're cornering. I( did here a while ago that it is now illegal to use a vehicle axle as an axle for a trailer but not sure if thats true. |

If the trailer has brakes, then they need to be the auto reversing type, ie allow the brakes to automatically disconnect when reversing. hope this helps.. best regards, Rustic
