caravan marker lights
our spectrum has a full set of uk markers arranged as follows
front outlines at bumper level, red/white on upper rear body sides and finally full rear clusters with tail lights incorporated. with darker evenings on way for towing to weekends away wondering about adding more. first thought was to add red/white side markers in area of wheel arch to give more illumination, basically smaller versions of usually found on horse box arches. then trawling ebay noticed amber led units which could be mounted on side skirts, big truck/trailer style. other thought was reflective tape as seen on some box trailers around the edge of the rear face of van and maybe yellow along sides. any thoughts. did see a pack of 8 amber leds thought 4 for caravan and others on side steps of troll...

i was thinking of using LED lights fitted into the back edge of the side steps. I'm sure you might be able to fit them to a caravan as well.

I thought that trailers over a certain lengh had to have amber reflectors by law anyway?
If you want to be seen easier I'd go for the reflective tape.... simples! |

Hi ya
I have side fitted Amber reflectors as standard on my twin axle, But replaced them with slim LED indicators I have done this to both my previous caravans It make changing lanes and manoeuvring much easer in traffic cars along the side of the caravan cant see the rear car indicators so dont drop back or give way until they see your car side indicators. As for the front of the van I have 4 maker lights 2 up and 2 lower both were standard white till my last trip to Croatia change the lower ones to Blue leb bulbs much better as u can see them in the tow mirrors, and you cant mistake the lights for a car coming up on either side just my ideas davemud |

cheers for thoughts.
on viewing 'van again realised it has 3 amber reflectors at waist height each side, the forward most incorporating indicators too. guess the white/cream van is quite reflective too excluding the muck of course. just seems funny that 6 meters of van has no illumination when comercial trailers, and even the larger transits and sprinters have amber markers every few meters. suspect adding to the tail light wattage is reason not but leds use next to nowt so could be added. could even swap out existing tail bulbs to leds to reduce load. any excuse to reduce the i didnt see you mate factor plus towing a chrimbo tree is a neat pose esp tied to a well lit truck. seen tape for a fiver, and 8 leds for 18 so can feel a paypal moment coming on... dinky its going well thanks, could always meet up for a drool and see yer t2 too.
