Hi every one,
My name is Steve and i live in Dover and am looking to buy a Ford Maverick SWB, 95/97 mod (as this is what £ i can afford) not shaw about petrol or diesel yet. I do know the Diesel engine runs a chain or cog drive for the cam shaft drive, but iam not awear what drives the petrol engine cam?any one know. I am also aware of the gear box problems, is there any other issues with this truck. Well that's it for now and i am looking forwards to chatting on the forum once ive got my truck. Cheers Steve. |

Thanks Guys,
I Will PM my post code over to you Zippy, and yes i still have the kit car, its a Jago Geep based on the old MK2 escort. I am still looking, and do agree that the Diesel engine is the way to go,and do like the face lift 96/7 SWB model. Jimmy yes can you send on some pics of your truck, and let me know the milage etc, i may be tempted not shaw how far away you are but that's not to much of a problem. i will pm you Jimmy with my email address. Cheers lads. Steve. PS. Is the 97 petrol engine cam belt or other driven? . |

hi fella,
i have recently got my Maverick, well, 2 month ago. So far its been fine, no issues. its got 115k on the clock, but looks liek its been fairly well looked after. NO issues with gears, the only minor niggles i have are when idling, afetr a short run. the revs jump ever so slightly, as if you have just touched the accelerator a bit. teh other niggle is turbo when you are flooring it, seems to drop off a bit for me. Cars great to drive, much more stabel than my old Fourtrak. engine is solid and dry, the whole car feels solid. I paid £1k for mine, i dont think it was worth more, or at least not much more, so haggle if you need to, because there aint much difference between a £1k mav and a £1.8k mav, at least not between the ones i looked at! diesel deffo the way to go.. |
