Was the camera correctly calibrated - ask to see documentary proof.

Where was it sited? If on private land they need permission or its not valid.

Was the road straight or curved, theres a maximum curvature for it to be valid.

Not being funny, but you've committed a crime - take the punishment and learn the lesson...

I take it they stopped you down the road then?

My missus got done near Oxford, phoned up immediately she got the ticket, said she'd do a speeding course or whatever else was going and they cancelled the bloody ticket with no further action.....worth a try....

I hate those bloody vans with a passion...I believe theres also some kind of issue where they have to be within 3kms of an RTA or accident black spot but that might be urban myth...

Moot point, but given that speed is a contributing factor in less than 7% of all RTAs (Road Transport Research Laboratory figures) its a farcical 'crime'. Theres no evidence to show speed cameras or these bloody vans have had any effect except (i) to pi55 off the ordinary motorist and (ii) line the Treasurys pockets , oh and the insurance companies too with their extra charges for points.....so sorry but I don't buy that one.

But if the legal limit is 30mph, and you know it is (you shouldn't be driving if you don't know the speed limit!), and you're driving at a speed greater than 30mph, YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW... Quite simple really.

It's funny, but I've heard petty thieves use the exact same 'go catch a real criminal' line before too...

Well I guess that makes 90% of the population criminals then....so you've never ever exceeded the speed limit - ever?

Mundy, you've got my sympathy mate, a mobile revenue camera got me a few months ago. It's had the desired effect, I now drive around like a one man rolling road block

IT'S A TAX not a crime, good grief
Take the fine yes but points, sod off.

Were you stopped in person or just photo and booked in the post.
The calibration argument has to be done at the time of being nicked. You can ask for it's last test time etc and basicaly cause a nuisance after the event though.
