Default Local Knowledge/help needed Yorkshire dales

Can anyone provide any info?

Good News: We have just managed to confirm that we're both off work Easter Bank Holiday and can therefore get away in the caravan.

Bad News: As its so late on everywhere seems to be booked up.

Ideally we'd like to go N Yorks area/Yorkshire Dales to get some walking in.

Is there anyone local to those areas in the know about that nice little site that may have some space?

We dont want full facilities, all we like to have is the leccy hook up.

All help greatly appreciated and if its near you I'll make sure you get some ale beer (as I seem to spend most weekends away in the van as the newt anyway )

Thanks

A few of us from the club had a weekend up there 18 months back and stayed - HERE

Nice quiet site with pub attached that dioes food if you don't fancy cooking. Its in a small village but is only 5-10 mins from Masham if you want somewhere with a bit more civilisation to go to. Theres 2 breweries there that do tours around, Theakstones and Black Sheep. Pately Bridge and Leyburn are only 20-30 mins away and theres plenty of lanes in that area if you fancy a trip out.

daved,

Are you a member of the caravan club? Just had a quick scan of their CL's, and there are 112, with hook up's in North Yorkshire to choose from.... one of them must have space?

yes I am , If you know which one it is, I'll book it

In all seriousness, I've just looked at our landline call register and last night between 6pm & 9pm I made 87 calls, most to cl's but also the "normal" sites. I'd also made about a dozen calls to preferred sites yesterday afternoon (after we found out we could go) and more this afternoon. all working outwards from our preferred location.

The missus placed loads of calls last night on her mobi and we've both made email and web enq.

The only sites I haven't bothered contacting are the £25 a night ones and I'm gobsmacked how many of those there are

To put it bluntly, its a ******* nightmare.

I've even searched nationwide on the CC web site for availability on thse dates and its minimal.

Thanks for all the help and info so far guys keep it coming please,

All leads so far negative I am trying and optimistic though lol.

I'm sure someone somewhere will cancel and if I can just catch that one

Thanks for the help......sorted

After a lot of phoning and being referred around tracked down a nice c l near Penrith and fell in nicely on a cancellation.

Short trip down into the dales for one days walk and a return to Helvellyn another day

Daved, good news on the CL.
Gotta admit I'm amazed at how many CL's amd Sites are fully booked this year! Last year booked my main holiday in April for August (5 'vans on a CL together for a fortnight) This year I was ringing round at the beggining of January and being told fully booked already for August!!!
Read somewhere the other day that this years membership of the Carvan Club has increased by about 45,000 members, and the Caravan and Camping Club about the same!!!

I'm getting the impression the caravanning world is going to be a much more crowded place and being totally selfish I don't like it

But hey ho life goes on...............

Maybe its now time to realise my long term ambition of opening a site & storage ?
