WALES april 24-25 all welcome

ok ive had interest in a meet in wales for the weekend of 24-25 april...

this will be a laning weekend with possible camping as we go , visiting as many lanes as we can find

im thinking of starting off near me and doing the sarn helen run from neath to near brecon.

so far

id like to work our way up through mid wales and do lanes as much as possible

so if you have lanes in mind you could pass on details to me so i can work out some possible routes

id like to carry tents etc in the trucks and just see how far we get, but im sure some will want to caravan too . i guess if its well planned we could sort out a caravan site near to where we expect to be by the end of day 1

so really as its just an idea at the mo , we need :

names of interested parties
info on lanes
and lots of ideas

interested ???

odd

i just looked on multimap.com to add links to the sarn helen roman road to this thread....

it seems the sarn has just vanished within the last 2 weeks.
i was looking at it 2 weeks ago and its been there 2000 years nearly ... and in 2 weeks its gone. a tiny bit still shows and loads has been re routed onto main b roads and off farm land

oh its still there just not on the map anymore...

i will have a go at it at the weekend. i have to keep going up there anyway so i can get some more "no vehicles" signs to add too my collection.

im also getting details of lanes etc all over south - mid wales from friends and anyone else i meet

so if you know any legal lanes in these areas please forward them to me so i can build up a easy to read list of lanes etc

also a friend of a friend is also the local mp for neath port talbot council i hope to speak to him soon to discuss the part of sarn helen in his constituency as its supposed to be seasonal but fully blocked off by a farmer at one end..... im going to try for a police escort if needed on the first day of opening this year.

im told he might go for it.... as he sorts walters arena out well...

walters had a rally on a couple of weeks back well it was more a subaru test couple of days but they blocked the sarn for it without permission
we had 2 landies driving up and down the same road for 2 days solid.... they packed up in the end at big expence... still he will ask next time !

B&B overnight

Were thinking B&B overnight near you and then meet up for laning next morning for a good days laning.

ok guys this one is still on.... hope you like the dates cant really be too flexible on this one

having a chat with the local coppers last night. they informed me they will be issuing section 59's to anyone not where they should be on the 11-12th april (the sarn is not officially open until may 1st). i got the impression they are having to put on a show over Easter

stupidly i didnt ask if this was nationally or just in our area.
i will ask when i see him again.

if anyone else knows any info on this please let us know
maybe terra could look into this with his contacts

Well book you taxi home well in advance!

I've stripped the seats out of my LWB so I'd be kipping warm and dry in the back if I can make it!

Sounds like a great trip, so will definitely try to make it...just have to sweet-talk the Redhead...

If there are no caravans, I vote we do Sarn or wherever and then camp halfway along Strata in the wilderness.....that would be great...might go and recce it for a likely spot...fancy the trip Colin, say weekend after easter?

ok so you want the camp fire thing and everything ay .....

ok well the sarn from banwen to brecon all of it

then roll down to the strata florida to have a go on that lane will have to camp out along there then the next day do pauls forest playground

no point doing banwen playground as it wont be everyone's cup of tea

especially as i just negotiated my new tyres.... and i got to say you wont fit better than these puppies

anyone want a portable winch like new give me a shout i wont be needing it and i need the money

how is breakitfit today ??? headache ???

See what tracks you come up with and work out the timing Colin - the forest tracks are very easy but we could camp miles from the road.....but a campfire might be a no-no on forestry land....

We could do Sarn then depending on what time that finishes, theres a decent pub in Rhandirmwyn, six miles north of me where we could do lunch, then up to the southern end of Llyn Briane for a bit of forestry, then back on to the road to circumnavigate the lake (nice views as Pete will attest) . Then at the north end, back on to more forestry tracks (including the little quarry where makeitfit went all Australian - great for a bit of fun if you don't go in the way he did! LOL) up to Devils Dyke region, then start the Strata south to north, with overnight camp - but not sure what we'd do next day then....

but if time turned out to be short after Sarn and lunch, we could just drive the road route to Strata and do north/south, with forestry the next day if we can't find another heavy-duty track?

Just a suggestion...will be great to see dadba too.

I used to do long distance riding with camp outs over 3 days I loved it:thumbs
So take out the back seats then and fit a comfey thick sleping bag:thumbs
camp fire spit roast music...../ April Ummm Wales...
Do it in the summer and I would love to come:thumbs
Ok Im getting old:lol:lol

Hi extreme, no headache today thanks, but probably get one later in the week when I find my rubber hammer

Going to cut the wings now I've modded the roof:sly
Door's not too bad so prob fill and fit a wind deflector thing to hide anything

Rest of it pollyfiller realy
