Modern Top & Bottom Hoses when to replace ?
Just wondered if anyone here replaces Radiator Hoses at a certain age or mileage. In the old days these hoses would last 3-5 years only but the new generation of hose materials seem much better.
Last hose failure I had was on a 14 year old 187k mile Merc it blew on my driveway! I wonder if Rustic still has his original hoses or if he has replaced them as a precaution ? |

Rustic more than likely massages his hoses with the milk from a rainbow unicorn when the sun is at its highest.

Hose Cream !
I think you are right - then he has to make do with some Silicone Back to Black Spray now that Unicorns are all leaving due to the Triggering of Article 50.

So to end the rumours... Yes All the hoses are original, back to black... sprays... huuhh no chance who do you think I am lol... OK you got me.... you know me better than me now... I admit I have massaged them with " ArmourAll gloss, they come up a treat. The killer of hoses is oil, but certainly the materials are better, or should I say were better 22 years ago lol, not sure what modern hoses are like, car manufacturers buy as cheap as they can from the lowest bid, so many chances to cut corners. Uncle Rustic Part II What other secrets do I have lurking to keep my truck on the road lol ? Well the main point... it is stored in an integral double garage, so never gets cold or damp, and... wait for this... I have a dehumidifier in there too if it gets too damp in the winter. It shares the garage with our Yeti, and if the Yeti is wet, it's not allowed in the garage lol. There are tools etc in the garage, that I like to keep rust free too, so benefits all. My early cars were rust buckets, I have learnt over the years some preventative maintenance pays off, It's now payback time, but due to illness the Mav hasn't had the fine care recently. The brake and fuel lines are original too, waxoyled on day 2 of ownership. Priority this summer has been the boat, and visiting our grandson in Oxford, we are aiming to use it more, 19 nights aboard since my palliative Chemo started, I never thought I could do one night, night urine bags and boats are jit easy, when you are tethered to your bunk lol. We are now refitting the cockpit cushions, making them larger for more comfort. It has a vinyl hood, that received three coats of ArmourAll last week lol... As most of you know, time is if the essence, mobility is an issue, secondary tumours on the spine make getting on and off a moving boat quite difficult. I am getting over the issues by engineering solutions, but what I need now are 2 harpoons one forward and one aft to anchor to the bank and winch the boat in sideways, more experimentation needed on this one lol. I sank another boat last week, as I forgot we were double mooring along side him lol. At some point the logistics of using the boat will mean we will have to get rid, The boat is a Viking 23 and I had put it in my will to have a "Viking funeral" the local church yard refused to dig a hole deep enough to take me and my Mav lol... I ran the "Viking funeral" bit past the Environment Agency that controls the waters on the Thames, they were against it at first, but said it would be ok if I fitted a smoke alarm. Well I still have a sense of humour, this is as good as it gets, so I am making the most if it, I thought last Christmas would be my last to be fair, but the chemo has given me a reasonable quality of life, the chemo will not cure my metastatic prostate cancer, but is there to slow it down, reduce the pain and help my mobility by shrinking the tumours on my spine. I am now more active than before the chemo but the chemo causes fatigue and this gets worse after each chemo. So there you have my current situation, some a bit heavy, some boring, but I intend to be here a while longer. I am super hyper at the moment, like Billy Whizz, I had my Chemo 6 on Thursday, and they fill you full of steroids to counter some side effects, but it does have a great affect. lol Uncle Rustic

Well now you all have the bug to buy some ArmourAll, to rub it into your hoses lol... then where can you buy it?
I ordered some yesterday from Carpartsforless free post, with their discount code for £3.83 which you get from their site too. Nearly half list price, Eurocarparts don't include this as part of their 60% off offers even though I believe they are owned by the same group. I like bargains lol Rustic
