well suspect the mk2s are the best of all, the 'free' extra power of the intercooler
and on lower specs the insurance was still group 10 as then. R reg so pre ec94/20 on the towbar regs so could sort a really cool receiver set up. SE Tourer sounds like top spec. sounds like we should have a whip round and make it the club's mascot.

OK I'll turn it around if that was your truck that is being written off, how much would you expect to get for it from the insurance company?

Unfortunately the age of the T2's has now got to the point where the book price is basically pointless, as the value they offer has 20 to 30 years worth of depreciation on a relativity low price compared to similar cars at today's prices.
The daft thing is, you can actually sell a functional one, in reasonable condition at well over the book price, and depending on the time of year, sometimes, a lot more. I would guess the insurance company would be offering about £500 max. If I was to be buying one of that age, and it was in good condition, depending on the mileage, I would probably be prepared to pay about £1500 for it, just based on what I paid for our two, and their respective ages. |

Do you have the option to buy the truck back if they are offering silly money. If there are parts on there that are worth to you in the ball park of what they are offering then it may be worth considering.
A old house mate did it with is car, brought it back went down to the scrap yard it was held at. Stripped off the parts and sold the rest back to the scrap yard. He never even had to remove it from the yard. The insurance company did pick up the storage fee though whilst it was all been sorted out though. |

The salvage yard is the other side of the country from me so much as I'd love to get bits off it I don't want to go that far. Also to be honest it sounds silly but I don't know if I really want to see it.
In fairness valuer has offered a good price, I've tried to up the price but they aren't moving although they did say it was my right to reject it and go back to insurance company. My worry is that if I did that could they revalue at a lower price, no idea if they'd be allowed to do that. |

To give you an idea, I bought my 1997 T2 (2.7 tdi, SR spec converted to commercial, swb, 176k miles) 2 years ago for 1800 € (about £1500).
Driveable, but since then invested quite a bit in it to keep it on the road. Mind you - prices here on the continent are a bit higher I think. |

i would think they would have a hard job to offer a lower amount if you have the offer in writing it all depends if you are happy with their offer i always challenge it once i have a offer in writing will you be able to replace it without costing you any more money thats the main point as it was not your fault
