Default Boost Gauges & Dawes Valve

Alright, I'm sure this has been talked about plenty of times... But I'm having a bit of a head scratcher!

I was having a play around with a boost gauge and managed to plumb it in as follows:

And just as a temporary measure set up the gauge on the dash.

OK, no problems so far...

After I drove around a bit like this, I decided to fit a Dawes Valve.

Here in lies the problem... It doesn't mater which tube I plumb into what, I cant seem to get it to work. I've tried google for an image or diagram and find nothing definitive!

Can someone in the know please help me out, maybe show me a diagram of how it's setup in your Patrol!

Cheers. Jay.

The dawes device has to go in the small pipe between turbo outlet and actuator and you bleed off air to right amount on boost on the guage. It don't go into boost guage line

Also please tell me that fitting for guage that you've put into the large boost pipe has a fixing on the back and not just screwed into pipe

Also if you have put a fixing on the back make sure it's tight or superglue as you won't want that dropping into engine.

I did mine again today and drilled and tapped into the intercooler

Also another thing of the 3 litre bud is block the egr valve with a blanking plate. And fit catch can.. Get all three set up right and will be worry free. Common must do's on the patrol forums with the 3 litre neos

Jay, I get the feeling you're rushing it....
I'll post some photos later, but as Mark said, you need to research the NADS mods via an Aussie forum like nissanpatrol.au.com
That boost gauge is no good whatsoever.
Get one that reads psi not bar and one with boost only scale would be even better. You don't need the vacuum scale.
Psi is the common language when comparing boost readings on any Patrol mod.
Go have a look on the above forum and you'll see how big a deal these mods are to your vehicle and why they have to be done right first time.
Not preaching here Jay, just wanting to help.
Will post later today
Happy new year
Best
Davey

Excellent, I'll take all the help I can get.

I only used that gauge because I had it to hand.

I'll plumb everything back as it was and await direction from a pro!

Just echoing what Mark and Davey said, check the Aussie forums for info on setting up the dawes (you'll benefit from fitting a needle valve too).

Again echoing Mark, get a catch can fitted asap and once you have the dawes set up get your egr blanked off. I went down an alternative route to the dawes but fitting a catch can and blanking the egr was one of the best things I've done and I'm confident my 3.0 is now future proofed

Blanking the EGR's I understand, did it on my last 4x4... Where do I start with the catch can?

Presume I could do all this on Granddads 3.0 too Rob? I was very interested in what you've done, remember listening to you in awe on one of the meets, certainly fills me with confidence that you've messed with yours so much anyway.

Have a look through my project thread and it should be in there bud. The catch can is fitted in the crankcase breather pipe before it joins the air intake pipe, there's a lot of oil mist enters the air intake through the breather and the catch can removes a lot of it so less oil ends up in the intercooler.
