Default scaletrix - digital

hi,
anyone familiar with this newish kit and how you change lanes at the
'points' to use a railway term.

believe sx did junctions yonks ago that were manually controlled.
also on same thought how those TCRs of 20 odd years ago did it
as i dont think they had physical slots.

mind nothing new under sun, just seen add for ones that slide on
corners and go other way presume with aid of digital, i had
some 60's car that could spin but then due to the 12v dc went into
reverse til fell of track. :

Just found this Rbrt, Is this it

http://www.scalextric.com/shop/sets/...igital-driver/

Must say it makes me feel old as its gone along way in 40 years,
Have not used / played it for maybe 20 years but i bet its just as good fun as it was then.

we bought some last year for the girls, not sure it was digital.
but it was a drift set and i can only say compared to scalextric of the past
the newer drift cars stay on the track and you can buy loads of extras etc so its 100 times better

still found they got bored in ten mins though.

they dont understand the fun is in the setting up

I bought a Digital set for my son last year.
He loved it and so did i (big kid i know)
Yes it does lane change as there is a little computer in the car that knows what controller it is paired with.

There are little Points that when you tell the car to change lane it activates the "points" in front to change lane.

Not like the old TCR system (that was great i had one).

It is sat under his bed and has been for ages.

Anybody is after one please make me an offer.

Thanks
Ian

Think your right Extreme4x4, It was about buying new cars and extra bits of track, Cross overs, Pits or a humpback bridge ect.

certainly looks like it, says can race 4 cars at once overtaking when
you want?

i had a lot of old track and very old track plus adapter pieces gave to
a friend. just about enough to make up a full model of donington.

always fancied those trucks they did early 80s, leyland road trains
and sometimes see trailers on ebay, caravan racing etc.

think thats the problem, a lot of set up needed. now if had dedicated
room in way would for a model railway then better proposition.

yeah we bought a big set anyway then 2 extra kits 2 extra cars we really went to town with it,

if i was buying one now, id make sure you look at the drift cars. its much more fun as you dont have to keep getting up to collect your car from the other side of the room.

you can easily do 180 and 360's

i did a short doughnut when i put furniture polish on the track

but its a different world now you can have smooth tracks, snow and mud everything
tracks on the side so you dont fall off

ebay is the place to buy... some good deals out there now

I remember 25+ years ago they used to do some F1/F2 stock cars that had a fully pivoted pickup at the front that allowed you to do 180s etc

Fender Bender and Stick Shifter they were called

my older brothers had them before me they had it set up in the attic full time, i had to give them sweets so i could play with it.

when i got it all the cars were re painted and mostly broken, but dad made a big set up in my bedroom it was a sort of big fold down area (like a fold down bed) train set in the middle and cars outside.
played for hours...

sadly i could not charge my brothers to play with it as they had moved on to girls
