Default WANTED - 2004/5 2.7 LWB Manual Terrano

As per the title I am looking for a Terrano for use as a tow car.

After much deliberation, advice and guidance I have decided on a late 2004 / 2005 (pre march 23rd 2006 - for road tax change reasons) LWB 2.7 Manual, would prefer a SVE with Leather, less than 80K miles ideally.

I am based in Scunthorpe but I am prepared to travel for the right machine. I don't mind a few little jobs, but I'm not wanting to have to rebuild the car due to iron worm. I have cash waiting for the right vehicle.

if you know of anything on the forum, or have seen anything in your local car yard please drop me a line and let me know.

Thanks in advance...

Default Too many miles?

I still have this which almost fits your bill. I think the only change since I posted the thread is that the airbag light is now on - I haven't investigated yet as it's just parked up at work waiting for the snow.

Open to an offer if you fancy coming to take a look/drive?

Thanks for your reply, I had seen this when I was browsing the site, but I must admit I was a bit put off with the mileage.

Does it have a current MOT? if so when does it run out? can you give me a postcode of where you are so I can see how far away you are.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, please disregard the request for a postcode, I have re-read you ad and seen the info I need !!!

If you can let me know about the MOT that would be good.

Thanks

Hi Ian,

I thought I would drop you a line to say thanks for taking the time to message me about your, but we've decided to keep an eye out for a lower mileage example with leather, as we're using it for horse related stuff and the wife has expressed concern about the reliability due to the mileage. So thanks again but I'll leave it for now.

Dave

No problem Dave. I know that mileage can be a concern.

I'm sure you've received lots of great advice here but just to add my 2p worth, a fair few seem to have had gearbox problems (mine was quiet in 4th but noisy in other gears - mine mainly 5th before replacement), and rot... My first one (a 1996 2.7TD) was scrapped due to holes in sills, rear seatbelt mounts, front crossmember, boot floor and the front footwells where the throttle pedal simply pushed straight through the floor into fresh air

All the mechanical stuff can be fixed at a reasonable price but the body/chassis rot can be terminal if you're not good with a grinder and welder.

Happy hunting, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the Terrano once you find the right one for your needs.

All the best,

Ian

PS I think I'll probably keep mine and swap it about winter/summer with my old Merc as I wouldn't want to try the Merc in the snow!

if it helps, the airbag light is easy to reset - there is a guide in the downloads section. When I bought mine a few years ago the airbag light was on, went via the guide to fix it and its been fine every since.

I'll get around to it when I remember.
