That time of the year again, Insurance!
Had a nice surprise, as got it fully comp, with every mod mentioned (That was a fun and long conversation), and still saved nearly £200 on last years premium, so £435 this year.
I found out a few things over the last month which did worry me a bit about getting a quote this year, as I knew there were a few things that I had fitted, that were not listed on the current insurance, as they charge me £15 for every amendment and I decided to wait until the renewal, so things like the extra gauges, stickers, and add ons like the bonnet and boot spoiler were not listed. This year, it seem that the insurance companies have cracked down on extra stickers on vehicles, and some companies have been refusing to insure cars with non-factory stickers. A Landrover owner, who had just the pretty standard "One Life" sticker in our 4x4 response group, was told that they would have to remove it, or the company could not insure them, but luckily for them, it then transpired that they are allowing stickers on the glass as long as you inform them, but nothing on the body panels. I did discovered that being a member of this club, and also being a 4x4Responder actually lowered my insurance cost, and making a point to tell them about the fact the T2 has a Factory fitted NATS system also knocked a bit more off, so telling them everything is not always bad. |

Are we allowed to mention insurance companies so we know where to go? Mine is due next month.

Even with 10 years protected no claims bonus, no "at fault" accidents in the past 5 years, and a clean licence, as mine had the mods, and I had the voluntary work listed, it was £576 with Elephant. |

Here in Belgium, in my case (no accident history): >600 EUR for the legally required minimum insurance and medical costs from accidents for the driver.
So don't complain |

Carefull when you use compare websites. Always call the insurance company you selected and confirm all your details. They will wriggle out of paying in the event of an accident. We always call them to confirm and always had them change the quote.

Unfortunately insurance companies do not use what we would call straight forward logic, they base their rates on things like post code (if a post code has in history a high degree of thefts, or parked damage etc) then it can have an alarming effect on premiums, we live in such an area, but those that have visited us will know that while we have the post code we are in fact completely isolated from said normal post code area but it still has an effect on our premium so we pay around £300 each for our two cars fully comp, if we had the post code half a mile up the road it would be nearer £200 as it is well out of the vandal area, yes we have told the companies that we have a locked compound well off of the beaten track, , they just ask is it garaged, well do not have a garage so have to say "no" I could say yes but in the event of a claim if they investigated and found we do not then we would be efectvely uninsured, this is the scam shit world we live in today, Rick
