Default New new dashcam first impressions v good!

Howdy fellow Nissaners,

So after my dash cam was playing up I decided to buy a cheapo eBay camera, so I found the one I wanted, bought it and sure enough it arrived very quickly, for 20 quid I was impressed.. Or so I thought.. As soon as I plugged it into the PC it began squealing and buzzing having a hissy fit...

Even the PC was wondering wtf I had plugged in...

So after faffing about I decided to pay a trip to Maplins somewhere with a name and a face and buy a proper one...

Great until we talk price, after haggling I got the camera for 80 quid

I have been setting it up and the PC software too, first impressions are good.

A nice big screen

Camera connected to window sucker and GPS receiver above that, someone unscrewed the gps bit and stuck it on the side for better signal, haven't tested yet, but held in with 2 screws and separate cable for gps

Massive 4m cable to hide in panels

The camera claims a full 1080p hd so I will test and report soon

that look very similar to the type I bought me dad, nice picture but it doesn't delete old footage so once the memory card is full you have to remove delete on pc and stick it back in,

I don't mind that as I've always got my Patrol pack with me which has my Toughbook in it

Try following another car, see how close you need to get be able to clearly read the number, mind you driving up to a car in a car park will do.
Filling the card up may be down to the settings

Looking good Alex, carefull with the speed though as remember the footage can be used against you too.

What was the yellow barrier or fence on the right hand side, I noticed there were traffic control lights at either end.

Thanks for measuring it for me.

Strange as I did set resolution on camera to 1080,

There is also a frequency which I changed from 50 to 60??

Perhaps I will have a play tomorrow.

looks about right to me - the issue is the lens/sensor on the dashcam.

It is recording at the correct resolution, via a lens that isn't as clear as you might expect. Keep it on 60Hz as I found it refreshed much quicker and therefore picked up number plates better.

Is the lens at the front adjustable for focus at all?

Hmm right, well I already had it set to 1080, only interesting thing to note is one of my YouTube videos onl goes upto 720

Here's some screenshot of the settings

Exposure I've just set to +1/3

Loop on, G sensor off as off-roading

Frequency already set to 60

Solid with no adjustments I'm afraid

Ah yea sorry, did watch video, could not think of which bit you were referring to.

Lots of plane spotters wait there as the runway is right behind the barriers
