Random Misfiring(NEED ADVICE)
Hi i driver a Nissan Pathfinder 2006 4x4, noticed it was not running smooth so i had it checked out ,machine reports Random Misfiring and the mechanic advises i change the ECU.
Please advice |

I do not know anything about the Pathfinder, but most unlikely to be ECU unless it is a known problem ie bad batch of units etc, more likely are the information inputs to the ECU like MAF, Crank position sensor, injector lift sensor etc, Rick

forgot to say do you have any fault codes? but on a 2006 I am not sure how you read them, Rayf is your man on here, Rick

HELP
"I have a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 V6... Had ECU replaced . Now is throwing a random misfire code P300... what are these code and can one cause the other? Help!"

Why did you have the ECU replaced?
Was the replacement brand new or second hand, is it possible the replacement is not the correct type for your car. As said normally its a sensor rather than the ECU. Is there a manual in the downloads section for the Pathfinder? Or a manual for another vehicle with the same engine perhaps. Best of luck |

The ECU should pretty much be the last item on your check list.
I am guessing that as the fault code (P0300) you have been given is generic EOBD code this check was not carried out by a Nissan dealer? P0300 is not very helpful as it can be caused by many ancilary items. I'd suggest getting the checked with Nissan Consult diagnostics, this is far more likely to provide a more specific DTC or fault code. The ECU should pretty much be the last item on your check list.

Thanks Ray and jim,i am just sitting on a time bomb here in Nigeria so difficult to get a proper Nissan dealer.
thank for all the updates,one thing i noticed though,the ECU in the car had 7Z while the new one has BH don know that meant anything anyways. On the reason why it was changed,long story,some guy messed with the Tube water heat that started pouring hot steam water on the the fuse box and what i was told next was that it short circuited to the ECU and all and all bla bla bla. so thats were i found my self now,my ride is 3 years ld and never came up with issues just this silly mistake now. |

Yours the 4L V6 petrol ? if it is has the spark plugs & plug leads been changed ? the problem could also be the coil pack

As the chap is in Nigeria I think his truck & others out there will poss have the US spec engines which are mainly petrol V6's & I think they also get some big diesel engines aswell not the crappy 2.5dci lumps we get oh & then there is all the Nismo upgrades to (only know this from being on a US forum)

Hey Sweety,very on point,my truck is US spec engine which are petrol V6' and also the spark plugs just got changed.
Could that be the cause? |

Your mech. gave you a DTC of P0300, when this code is stored the will also be another stored DTC indicating the cylinder that caused the issue.
P030X where X indicates the cylinder number. There will be multiple entries for each cylinder if needed.
