Idea in the pipeline
After seeing exosteve's truck in the flesh, I do really like the look of this chassis paint he used on the bonnet. There were no streaky "halfords chav effect" bits of anything and e bonnet actually felt wrapped as the paint was thick, almost leathery
I'm debating getting a load of paint and a load of masking tape ect and do the whole lot, all doors, boot, bonnet, wings ect Has anyone tinkered in this field before? And if so, whats the best ways of applying? |

As I used to work in a body shop the best way is to have it done properly but saying that it costs a fortune.
Can get leatherette finish paint but needs spraying and curing properly. I think Steve's is done with a small gloss roller and small brush on the fiddly bits. Snorkel will sort your wing out and filler and a couple of good quality colour matched spray cans will sort that door. I got a couple of cans off eBay matched and delivered for about 30 quid. Did my wing and touched up a few other bits and I still have a full can left. Not a bad match either. My truck gets used and abused so not paying a fortune on cosmetic stuff. As long as you take your time you will get a half decent finish. Give it a few weeks to harden off then 1500 grade wet n dry it and polish it back up with g 3 compound. |

Nah man.2 tins o paint £40. Small gloss roller £5.
Wack it on job done. Scratch your truck to bits and do it again. Hey presto a new looking truck every 12 months for less than £50. Only/reason I ain't done mine yet is I would have to replace my stickers |

I decided to paint my front grill matt black as it was too blingy.
It looked odd. So I painted my bonnet. Still looked odd. So I painted all the bottom trim matt black too.and it looks awesome. I abuse my truck a lot.its scratched a lot. Alex took some paint off his at the weekend Ind it needs addressing before it rusts.so it doesn't make sense to have it resprayed to do it again on the next landing day. Alex.on your mods want list.you want all makeitfits mods list. His truck is painted matt black. Nuff said. |

You already de valued your truck.
Do it. It will look mean matt black with those bumpers. But be careful. No offence but your painting handy work on the bottom is very rough.with very obvious brush stroke marks. If you paint your truck matt with some degree of finish.even the war wounds of last weekend will look OK without filing.dedenting. Mean time while you decide wot your going to do. Get that bare steel on your door protected from rust asap |

What you need Alex is a big gazebo with sides to put your truck under while you paint the truck as it'll stop the new paint getting bit blown onto it in the wind. Personally i'd remove as much as you can before painting like the mirrors, door handles & remove door seal etc as it will give a much better finish oh & it'll be best to sand down every panel to give the new paint a good key
