Default Ordering a dash cam - Help

So its payday tomorrow

I am going to order a dash cam, Ive read so many posts on here about this cam and that cam, and now have seen so many websites im lost.

All I want is

something easily transfered to pc
runs of car mains
loops video
fairly good picture
and mounted to windsheild

EDIT***** and ideally not hogging up my 12v socket, id like to hide it away.

Can anyone advise if their dash cam does all of these?

I dont want any faffing about with converting this file to that ect ect

Most cheap ones do all that.

You also need date and time, most do that, BUT some also loose the date and time

Some also have GPS or an accelerometer, thus saving that event, I think Briggies has.

They come with a plug, so you will need a spare socket.

Mine plugs into the accessory socket, and the way it is set up, automatically starts to record when the ignition is on ONLY.

Depending on the size of SD card, quality of video required you can get 4 hours of continuous recording before automatically wrapping around and recording over the previous footage.

TIP:- have a spare card, and changeover after an event... so you can save it.

The quality of the video, doesn't pick up car regs that well, so since it has an internal mic, I always speak the reg No.. twice...

PS.... Don't sing in the car, oh and don't say look... isn't she stable at 95 mph...
If you have an event... the police might seize the footage... hmmmm...

I've got a Snooper DVR in my business van - http://www.activegps.co.uk/snooper-dvr-1.htm

This has been replaced by the Snooper 2 HD. I can't say that I recommend it as at first I had it wired to a permanent live to record while parked up, but if you don't use your vehicle say you go on holiday, it will run the battery flat. I now have it wired only to come on when I am driving.

In hindsight I should have got a cheaper one and an HD one

Eek, definately dont like the sound of that, funny enough in a previous thread someone else slagged off the Snooper too

I will be ordering tomorrow, ive been wanting one for a while and have decided it is definately a good idea to wire on up.

I dont need any fancy stuff, nor do I care for time and date ect, a crash is a crash, aslong as I can see occupants and car thats all that matters to me

It is handy to have GPS (proves where the crash happened, also the speed). They should all have date/time stamp.

I brought one with front and rear camera for 35 quid.
It went in the bin.
What are you using it for?
Everyday road driving.accident evidence?off roading?
If the later just use a tablet.

Road accidents, and given the fact my bumpers are quite hefty, it'd be nice to prove I am not at fault if the worst should happen

EDIT - you know what its like when all of a sudden the single driver now has 4 in car witnesses with whiplash...

I wonder when cars will have a black box, to record conversations in the car, as well as video, speed of travel, GPS position, so if an accident occurs...
ALL data can be down loaded, it could even pick up data from the people in the car at the time and who was driving
The data could be sent to the insurance company and the car written off before the fire brigade arrive to cut you out...
BMW and similar cars can automatically call the emergency services now.

It would log where the car had been, how long it was there...
Overstaying car parks, parking on double yellow lines...
Fines and points on your licence will be automatic.
You could be bankrupt and banned from driving on one journey.

I wouldn't have liked a black box in my company car... especially on Friday afternoons lol...
