Thats the usual price. No way would that sell for £800 mark.

Still probably pretty good for the money. But no point going for mega pulling power 10,000-12,000 is more than ample.

Winch-it have some good deals with synthetic rope.

Synthetic rope is far safer if it was ever to snap, won't rust & a lot of the good ropes will float on water, it's lighter & easier to handle plus no chance of sharp bits of wire digging into your hands

TBH if I had the funding for a winch i'd go for synthetic rope over wire any day

no question Dyneema is far better than steel, only a short while ago I had to winch up hill as lost traction, my winch girl was standing near the tree I was on, and I suddenly got traction, lurched forward but then lost it again and even with the brakes on ran back down the rather steep hill, the result was a sudden jerk on the rope which snapped it, no recoil, just dropped to the ground, I shudder to think if it had been wire, possibly no more Sarah, just my thoughts, Rick

bit too cheap for that power, but if you only use it once or twice maybe OK, my 13000 lb winch has been used tens of times and at long winch times as well, and still going strong, Rick

It's the going rate for it mate.
As Fez says though I'd go for the Winch It version as they come with water proof solenoids and remote controls included and really good service.
Dyneema version is about 100 quid more but so much nicer to work with

Synthetic rope is lovely to work with, Especially when respooling.

Only time I use wire now (if I had some spare) is when pulling logs out etc

You can't use synthetic rope with a tirfor. Basicly with a electric winch it spools back onto the drum easier. Steel rope can kink tends to spool very uneven so next time you come to use it it's a pain to get back off.

Also as rick says, Synth rope does not hold energy like steel. When it snaps it just drops rather than whips about.

Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.
