Default Terrano MAM and Kerb weight

I am trying to work out if I am legal to tow my dads trailer.

Does anyone know the maximum authorised mass (MAM) of a SWB nissan terrano 2.7tdi?

And it's kerb weight aka unladen weight?

Thanks

With the later driving licence there is a maximum total weight, the problem with the Terrano is it weighs close to 2 tonne, so it doesn't leave a lot for the trailer.

So this will be the limiting factor rather than the maximum load that can be towed by the Terrano.

yes but to work out if I am legal to tow it I need to know it's MAM (maximum authorised mass)

This should be taken to mean the permissible maximum weight
Its all very confusing and looks like having a bigger motor makes it worse. As it has the possibility to pull alot.

It's only a small trailer but does look like I am not able to tow it.

guess it depends on size etc and what license you hold.

how heavy is the trailer kerb weight for 3 door is 1730kg but gross vehicle weight is 2300kg so ur trailer has to weight less than 1200kg or take the tralier test

It looks like MAM is just the gross train weight as long as you dont exceed that then it depends on the catagories on your licences as to what you can tow?

it's not the trailer weight but the MAM, (maximum authorised mass a.k.a permissible maximum weight) Of the trailer.

I Just need to make 100% sure what MAM the terrano is, The everything is easy to work out.

Ok thanks for that, so MAM aka gross weight is 2300kg. So the trailers MAM cannot be over 1200kg.

in a way yes, but got confused as you never said gross weight before trailer.

Anyway it works out I cannot tow it with the terrano, It's over by 100kg

But it looks like I can tow it with a car. Nice rules.

did you get your car licence (B) before jan 1st 97?

if yes then will have grandfather rights to B+E
and virtually no restrictions other than the gross
train of the car.

if post 1.1.97 the B covers gross train of 3500
where gross of car exceeds gross of trailer OR
gross of car eguals 3500 and can tow 750kg
trailer.

to get an E other than by grand father rights
involves a comprehensive test, best bet is a
commercial driving school. the school local to
me uses a 4 wheel load lugger box van trailer
to be fair smaller than a caravan but solid so
cannot see thru it on reversing test, as per
LGV/HGV tests were flat bed trailers were
barred some time ago.
