Hey chaps, why would someone have "Enterprise PLC uk " come round their empty house taking pics and stuff?? looks to me like an industry maintenance company,could the neighbour be renting, and this company does maintenance??

its just we dont get along with the guy, and recently his mum died so the house is being cleared. We both own a shared drive, and its been a huge problem for him, and he tarmacced half of it (dumb or what) so now im not sure if hes selling, renting or what. either way i suppose it doesnt matter because I have the deeds and i think th eopportunity to have th etarmac removed from the front part of drive and restored back to how it was if it is rented out...

After a (very quick) glance at their website, is it possible that the house was a council rental? Or perhaps he is selling to the council for social housing? I don't think they are checking the house for renting unless it has been bought by the council. I gather from their website that they work for government departments so maybe you could call the local council and ask them if they have anything to do with it. That would be my first phone call anyway.

cheers Liam, that does make sense, and I suppose if its council, I have some major comeback over the stupid driveway. i will ring them asap and find out (pointless talking to nobhead)

Hate to say this Clive but it may also be time to go see a solicitor for advice and may be a letter sending to him. The new owner may be miss sold the house as having a full wifth driveway and cause even more problems mate.

i have thought of that, and id be very surprised if that is the case. what makes you think this though Jim? problem is as well, i dont know who the new owner is, if there even is one!

i suppose also, its legally impossible to mis sell it. the deeds have to be checked do they not, before a house is sold? there is no way he could get away with it....

you would think so, but! Me and my neighbour apparently own the same small sliver of garden, his deeds and mine show a different line for the dividing fence

what, you mean both your deeds DIFFER??

if thats the case, i wonder if im in the same position, and that might explain why he has been such a huge nob over the shared drive...

quite easy to lose soem land along a boundary.

we put up a short section of fence to childminding spec
just our side of the ex council house marker posts that
had wire along them.

neighbour then did same but full length of garden.

so left a sliver of no mans land maybe 6" wide at most
between 2 fences.

we then took our fence down as rotten, and removed
marker posts. hey presto we gain several square feet
of land down a 50 foot garden.

now no evidence unless you count bricks on the
semi detached sheds we share....

It does seem possible, you could phone your council and ask if his is still a council house, that is not secret information I don't see why they wouldn't tell you.

well, we aint talking a few inches here. hes marked up what he thinks is "his" land, and tarmacced that. we checked this according to our deeds, and at the back, we are talking well over a foot and a half, tapering off to a few inches at the front. POINT though, is that he should never have tarmaacced, it should have been repaired yes, but only back to its orininal look. im seeking legal advice now before he gets rid of the house.

find out if it is a council house and if so, while it is empty awaiting a new tenant just move the boundary back

Im sure he would deny it, but i have a witness too.

itll be nice to get some clarification either way, even if it turns out what he has done is ok, what he has said is correct, but one thing i do know is that i have ROW wether he likes it or not, so he cannot keep parking on the drive, or blocking it too...

shoudl be interesting...!!! i just hope i can get the costs covered by my insurance, cos i will go all out if thats the case, and get what i want for a change, rather than being bullied.
