Outage ???
I couldn't get on to the site all last night (I was up til about 2am UK time), and this morning up til an hour or so ago. It's not the first time this has happened.
I tried pinging the site but it looks like ti had disappeared completely. Admittedly I live in Spain but I wouldn't have thought that would make any difference - everything else I accesses in the UK was OK. Have there been any reported problems ? Just wondering if you had any problems with your service provider ? B. Rgds John |

It happens to me all the time when trying to get on from my phone or my laptop (I only have mobile broadband at home - no landline). However, it always works from my pc at work (which is connected via a landline). Very annoying.

Intermittent here, sometimes it is ok other times it is down for three or four hours at a stretch. Been onto Bat,been on to ISP,cleared the cache etc. still the same. Started when the site was upgraded last year. Doesn't seem to be any pattern, it can happen at weekends or during the week, morning or night. Very annoying.

It is an Orange (or any of its sister companies) problem.
When we moved server last year somehow their DNS records got messed up, unfortunately they refuse to admit it is their problem There is nothing I can do this end because nothing here is broke. |

Ah but make sure you have the info for when you next go away or you will be cursing, and better to do it now while you have a good connection, I had to do mine a while ago as and when I could log on, it look more time than it should, Rick

Hmm. Same again last night.
It's a definite problem. Where do you actually host the site ? On a machine at home or on a hosted service e.g. at Orange or some other web hosting provider ? Is the webspace in one place and the domain management someplace else (e.g. I have loads of domains that are registered with one company, but the websites may be with another) Pretty sure that you are right and that your DNS is screwed someplace from what I can see on some lookups. Tried looking up the machine & domain & got these : ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Host www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com not found: 2(SERVFAIL) /usr/bin/host -v -t any www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com. Similar to the previous command but the "-v" makes the result Verbose. Trying "www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com" Host www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com not found: 2(SERVFAIL) Received 45 bytes from 213.253.137.17#53 in 0 ms ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It should look a bit more like this (from one of our websites - I'm not trying to advertise, just pointing out what's happening !!!!) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.regimentalmerchandise.co.uk is an alias for lb1.namesco.net. /usr/bin/host -v -t any www.regimentalmerchandise.co.uk. Similar to the previous command but the "-v" makes the result Verbose. You are possibly losing customers as a result of it.......... Sorry. Know this is all boring & geeky (it's unfortunately what I do....) and we should definitely get back to cars !!!! If I can help then let me know. B. Rgds Joh |

On a machine at home .... what do you think this is I have no control over your ISP and it is them that have the problem why do you think 99% of the folk here don't have a problem If you can get Orange to sort their act out I will give you a free lifetime membership.... good luck |

i can confirm its orange, though not tried to get them to fix it.
oddly can get site up on my smart phone, via orange 3g so guess its only part of their systems. lately been so bad on mine ive left machine switched on for days with site running in a window, and still sometimes its not there when i come back. tonight i refreshed the error 3 times til it gave up and loaded! going to print off those instructions now, like i told myself before to do....
