Default Tow hitch height?

Hey all,

I'm just finishing a rebuild on my y60 and wondered what standard tow ball height is? (lets say to the top of the ball) as ive lifted suspension and body its going to be way out as it is now!
many thanks

at an educated guess around 13 inches to the top, i can check this out for you by measuring the height on a few of our cars and getting back to you - if someone doesn't do it before me

I would have said it depends on your trailer a bit

well yes it does, but there is an 'average' height that most caravans sit at

Hello Guy's,

Thanks for the speedy replies

Plank - i agree, i thought there must be a 'standard' height of some sort

Jace - top idea mate, thats what i had in mind otherwise my lift efforts would be wasted by fitting a plough!!

Thanks again

Measurements.....

Both my terranos have the standard towbar which has two sets of holes for the actual ball, one about 1.5 inches above the other.

Both vehicles (which tow my twin axle Ifor Williams flatbed completely level) have got the ball bolted to the upper pair of holes.

The centre line of the upper holes is approx 16" off the deck, while the top of the ball is 20" off the deck.

Hope that helps....
