all down to your annual mileage really. I'm happy having the T2 for local use and running something cheap, cheerful and economical inter-city so works for me....

well what about the new proposal that will make EVERY lorry in the UK pay a daily toll of £9 for using the roads. The idea apparently is that UK trucks will get relief (so thats Eddie fecked then HOHOHO) so that only foreign drivers end up paying. About bloody time.

it is an odd situation, we already pay massive tax on fuel, and the road tax isn't spent on the roads.
Is it true that we pay vat on the fuel duty? if so we are even taxed on the tax! weird 'Value added tax' what value is there in paying fuel tax? so how can we them be taxed on it's value - it makes your head spin! http://www.petrolprices.com/price-of-petrol.html So, nice as it sounds, scrapping road tax, i don't think we ought to add anything to fuel costs as we pay enough bloody tax -and the more you use the more you pay already without adding any more |

I think the ordinary car tax disc should be binned in favour of tax on the fuel.
Then reps etc who use the road the most will pay the most and so look for more efficient cars. Those of us with old 2nd cars that get used three times a year use hardly any road surface. Should save a fortune in the policing of cars with tax etc and the broody dvla nonesense. The old excuse that it's to ensure the car is insured and mot'd is tosh. I could get a 24hr instant ins policy and have a day left on the mot and get a tax disc. I also think there should be some global insurance/mot thingy so you moyour car and get the insurance with it. Make your own plans for lorrys ADZ but essentialy truckers could claim back some duty as with VAT |

Truckers with there own tanks or fuel cards get tax relief But "daved"s hit the nail on the head along with "makeitfit" so the heavy users pay & the light users save & with modern electrics the tax = insurance + mot is CRAP |

totally agree to scrap road fund licence for tax on fuel , with the anpr technology police can tell if a vehicle is insured / tested , instead of just looking at the disc .... win win win as far as i can see
