I'm in Bristol too, there seems to be competition every year round here to get them up earlier and earlier - there's a couple of houses in Fishponds which have the full works - all along the sides of the houses, must be relatives of the Griswolds!

a house down the road from me put them up last saturday and they look crap.
i think they got a blind man to put them up in the dark with the high winds that we have had there are a couple of them icicle type things just dangling from the eves but the rest are in the front garden. beats me how they can afford to buy them as the whole family is on the social, probably get a christmas lights bonus for not ever having a job and paying any tax into the system will nip down the road and get a pic so you can all have a laugh |

There's a block of flats in an area of Bristol called Lawrence Hill - one of the flats, 2 or 3 floors up, has a HUGE display covering most of the area of the flat - think Santa must have lent a hand!
