Started on my mates T2 yesterday MOT failure re rust on the chassis mainly rear spring hangers, the top part where the springs sit are fine (when he first told me I envisaged cutting the floor out for access) it is the bottom where it joins the chassis, so soon cut out the crap started to clean it all up today but compressor let me down, this is the OSR inner cill

Looks to be the same places that mine went.
Is the drivers side worse than the passenger side?

Yes it was, at first looking at the near side it did not look too bad but after removing the bump stop plate realised it was suffering so cut it out anyway, my repair will be over kill with some 6 mm angle, but it is all I have to hand for the job, Rick

Infill plate to OS, fitted in two parts as could not get one piece in, some welds are a bit messy but soo hard to get to

Did not want to use underseal as did not want to look like I am trying to cover stuff up, Rick

That's why i cut mine completely out and fabricated them on the bench.
So much easier to do.
Having the body lift also helped loads as it gives you room to work on the top of the chassis.
Will out last the rest of the car now:thumb2

Got the NS done today, as yesterday a bit of a delay, yesterday was air compressor playing about, today ran out of 0.8 wire, had a roll 25kg roll of 0.6 but no 0.6 tips so had to get some 0.8 wire.

This is the NS angle tacked, note the absence of the bump stop shoe, it got in the way of G cramp on the OS

And the outside, tomorrow reassemble the axle and exhaust, then got a hole in the OS inner wing that he has put on the ticket but it is not a fail point but I really do not want to argue with him, he says because near the brake servo, but that is on the bulkhead, also got the inner cill bits to do, Rick
