CIU clubs
Hi all, especially moderators if no objections, if there are please remove thread.
It is becoming evident that distance is not an object. However to find a watering hole, where you can generally go without to much grief, take the kids and without getting ripped off is becoming more difficult. How do you all feel if any CIU (working mens) clubs that are visited and worth a mention, gets a mention to benefit other members. Alternatively the shite ones get a mention so that they are avoided. Most clubs have a notice board, so a card or a note of support can be left. Regards paulp |

CIU
CIU = Clubs and Institute union, traditionally known as working mens clubs, but could be railway clubs or part of a Royal British Legion.
If I am away or a weekend I feel reluctant to take the boys in an unknown pub for a drink and game of pool. Although there is no guarantee with a working mans club i personally have not encountered any problems because its members and signed in guests only. The drinks, not only beer is generally cheaper but in larger clubs they also do snacks and meals. And if a large group is booked many at cost provide a buffet.# Just a thought, it may benefit members as they are rarely advertised paul |
