What has been printed in the mag
NISSAN TERRANO'S 4-WHEEL-DRIVE SYSTEM Q: I have a susicion that the four-wheel drive system on my Nissan Terrano II is'nt working correctly. The car seems to stay in two-wheel drive even, when 4x4 is selected. My local garage recons it could be the automatic fee wheeling hubs not engaging as they should. I know John Carroll ran a Terrano up until recently. Did he ever have any similar problems with the 4x4 system, specifically the free wheeling hubs ? A: Up until JC's Terrano met a premature death in a field on a Derbyshire hillside, the truck had preformed flawlessly. However, my man in the know reckons your local garage diagnosis is probably right. He reckonsit's likely to be the 'brake rings' within the freewheel hub mechanism. When these fail, the front axel will fail to engage when 4x4 is selected. The only remody is a hub stripdown. For lots of useful info on all Terrano related matters check out the Nissan Owners Club at nissan4x4ownersclub.com KB |
