Default Checkatrade beware

Got a call today from an old lady with a leak under her sink unit, so called in on the way to another job, story was that she bought a kitchen from a national company but they could not install till Feb 2022 so she got her daughter to find a fitter/plumber via "Checkatrade" it was fitted only 3 weeks ago, my initial response was go back to them, she told me she had already done that 3 times and each time did not turn up so via recommendation called me.

Well I am not surprised they did not want to come back, such an amateurish job I have rarely seen, they clearly had no idea whatsoever, the leak was from the waste disposal unit waste pipe which not only had a back fall but had a DIY compression flange fitted to take the dishwasher waste in ridged overflow pipe, this was straining the overall pipe work, the single hole tap had not be tightened so was flopping around, I stopped the leak and sorted the tap, but will need to call back to sort it properly at a later date.

So to sum up Checkatrade like all the others are a scam and not to be relied upon to find a good reputable tradesman, the basic criteria of becoming members of them all is simply pay your yearly fee, Rick

20% stronger springs all round
aggressive off road tyres on wheels so just swap.
Aim to get stuck and be completely self sufficient in extraction, love getting muddy, 2ft deep is good but rare.

I can't even pretend to be shocked Rick

I'm glad it's sorted for her now and hopefully she's found a new trusted plumber in yourself
