Thumbs down Hilka Mini Grease Gun Cartridges 3 oz refill tube.

Just put a new cartridge in my grease gun, when I removed the end cap and looked inside the tube it looked as though it had about a quarter of what the tube could actually hold.
By the time you insert the tube and pump it up its almost empty. Why can't you buy a cartridge that is solid / full of grease.

Have spent 20 minutes spooning in some extra grease at one end. Maybe its like printer cartridges and you can buy one with the same footprint that has greater content. A real swiz!

If you can spoon extra grease in to the cartridge does that mean you can refill when empty? If that’s the case does it not make it pretty good value

TBH I treat as if it does not have a replaceable cartridge, I leave the empty one in then suck up the grease from my tin that has the centre plate with hole. Sometimes I catch the locked out plunger as I start to screw it into the head. The whole lot dumps out and grease is everywhere!

Quite often the cartridge is full of grease but still it will not pump out due to air probably. I think the design is generally crap!

Back in the 1960's I had a Castrol grease gun that you put the whole grease tin container into -had to be Castrol grease. Somehow it worked really well until I ran over it with my Mini.
