Question Win 10 Licence due to expire ??

For the last couple of days I keep getting a notification when I fire up my laptop about my widows licence being due to expire soon ?

I was on Windows 7 Professional and took the free upgrade to Windows 10. My Laptop has been into the local repairers for a couple of upgrades last year. The message seems to indicate my OS is on a Corporate Licence ?

Anyone had this or any idea what the fix is?

Yes I know Win 10 is pants but to be fair it has been very stable with my use.

Check what version you have installed.

Check your product key sticker for Windows 7 which is usually located underneath the laptop. Is it Home, Pro, Enterprise.

Versions should match although 10 may have a different description for Home.

What upgrades did you have done? If it’s the hard drive the repairer may have reloaded and possibly not used a genuine copy. You may just get away with activating windows.

Good Luck

Thumbs up

Hi Jim,

I had a new solid state hard drive fitted by the repairer. They probably just loaded a completely new Win 10 onto the system. I know the product key that is shown when I go into the system menu its a 64 bit OS & chip.

I know the firm have recently had some sort of Staff / Director change as a former employee was trying to flog me Bullguard.

Sounds like they may have installed any old copy of windows. Of course I wouldn’t rule out some kind of adware either.

Talking Come back Win 7 all is forgiven!

All brilliant now did clean instal of Win 7 Professional.

I guess the Win 10 free upgrade was free for a reason - customers used as Betta testers.
