@micken - I reckon that AL 8029 P must have had quite a smack as those panels are heavy duty steel sheet. The passenger's door looks like it has deformed around the jamb and I wonder if the wing pushed the door back onto the jamb during the prang.

I'll ask them next time I'm in the workshop.

...and here she is from the side. Must be at least 25 years old. Nice nick. These and the Toyota Land Cruisers were built to put Land Rover out of business, so they were made with the best materials and they didn't let an accountant near the manufacturing process.

Hi T Doug.

Yes, the early 80s!! That was taken on a diving trip to the Red Sea as I lived 21km from Jeddah at the time. '82 or '83. Nissan sold gazillions of Patrols to KSA in those days. They seemed to be the only ones that could pull themselves out of the soft sand. I loved the GMC Jimmys, Suburbans and K5s - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnT_a1HWcM0 but they were too heavy for the desert and used to get bogged down. Mechanically incredibly basic - the clutch pedal was connected to the actuator arm with a rod. No danger of hydraulics!!...but nothing to go wrong either, I suppose.

I am out and about in Castril (www.beautifulcastril.com) so will photo more Nissans as you still seem interested.
