Are Gadgets Listening To Us?
OK this has happened before to me before but this is sooooo strange. I'm convinced gadgets such as my iPad is listening to us.
About 20 minutes ago my son came into the living room with part of his phone case that clips to a belt. We both said we wouldn't trust it. So I said could it be turned into a car craddle for the phone but after a bit of discussion we soon decided not. He went on to talk about car mounts for phones for a couple of minutes and left the room. I've just come to my iPad and checked a notification on Facebook App. I scrolled down the feed and literally second item down was an advert for phone mounts. I haven't had the need to search for one or anything. It just seems too much of a coincidence to be just random. Has anyone else had this happen. |

Do you have voice activated stuff like Siri or Alexa or whatever they're called?
In which case, yes. Facebook really hacks me off with its net searching and adverts. Imagine if it were a person physically following you, half listening to conversations, then knocking on your door in the evening to sell you stuff you'd talked about. They wouldn't last long. It's shocking how much of our privacy we're prepared to give away. |

Yeah totally agree about privacy being given away quite freely. Oh yes Siri is there on both Apple devices but it's interesting how Siri may interact with Facebook for adverts but wont read out FB messenger but Siri will read out your texts. To be fair even the laptops are doing it too.
Dam annoying that they listen to your every word and then targets you with adverts. |

We do give our privacy away, far too easily, but personal privacy seems to be a tradeable commodity these days.
The advent of 'social media' has created a generation that seems intent on sharing their lives with anyone interested in their spurious claims. Hi tech invasion of our lives continues apace, and it becomes more and more evident, that a life 'off grid' and using good old common sense to chose, how and who we interact with seems the best way forward......Rick proves this time and time again...... |
