The vehicle manufacturer specifies a speed rating for the tyres, and this is usually well over what the vehicle is capable, and just because you keep well below this speed limit doesn't prevent the insurance from backing out. This is why winter tyres must be declared, as normally these are a lower speed rating than the car manufacturer specifies, so "tread" carefully, excuse the pun lol. Then there is the legal position, if the police are involved, incorrect and dangerous tyres... I'm surprised that the MOT didn't pick up on it.. mind you I was surprised that they didn't pick up on other things too. Any how, did Stevie Wonder sign the certificate? Just declare the tyres to your insurance... sorted.

I use this website for tyre sizes as gives both imp and metric. http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp also the yokohamas I suggested are muds and I be;ive are better on and off road than kingpins. Kind regards Russell. |

I think he needs to go out with a group, and get stuck a few times to gain some experience.

The MOT don't check if the tyres are to original vehicles spec, why would they?. If your insurance company is happy with the different tyres then it's ok.
Again, Get a decent modified 4x4 insurance and tell them about everything. Usually it won't make a difference on cost. |

Those tyres would look great on a dumper truck. Smartest on site. Insurance?? Don't think so. David

Many years ago I had a play in a Range Rover on the factory play ground, it was the obstacle course that they used for testing and demonstrating. We drove around an incredibly muddy field and an area they called the jungle.
Before we took the car out the chap from Range Rover apologised for only having a low spec car with part worn road tyres. I don't think that tyres this aggressive are necessary. As others have said get a second set of rims as they'll be crap on the road. |
