Unfortunately I have been to a few fatal smashes were motorcyclists where involved and skin and bone soon disappears when scraped on tarmac.

Yep, I did CBT instructing for a short period, that was the standard phrase to the noobies. "everyone is trying to kill you"

or to the pizzahut lads who dont speak english "bikey, carey, smashey"

hand gestures involved!

Sorry to hear of the "incident" , the most important thing is that everyone is able to make a complete recovery. Material things can be repaired or replaced.
You have some nasty friction burns there, but they will soon heal up in a week or two.

I used to ride a motorbike, had a few near misses, and the last one was the one that made me hang up my helmet and gloves.

It was a close shave with an arctic, I was riding at 30 in a 30 mph zone, headlight on, and he decided to turn in front of me... I had a choice drop the bike and slide under... in the days before they had the side crash bars on the trailers, OR hope he sees me at the last minute, and go in front.

This is what I did, luckily he saw me. There was no contact, so no damage to me or my bike, other than requiring clean under wear.
I stopped as I was shaking, and the b***ard, just carried on with his journey.

Other than driving my bike home, that was the last time I rode it.

I used to think that bikes are fine, if they are the only vehicles on the road, BUT your incident proves otherwise.
Knocked off by a fellow biker, well someone on two wheels.

Maybe you put the crash bars on to the wrong vehicle.

Whilst on that subject, imagine the consequences of a biker coming off and hitting the front of your truck, compared to say a plastic bumper.

As you found out, it doesn't have to be the biker's fault, and you were in a fairly low speed impact. You were lucky not to collide with an immoveable object.

Sell the bike, buy some more toys for the truck

Your logic is flawless, but my heart tells me otherwise, I love the bike to bits, its been to hell and back with me and still purrs away. Been involved in so many "incidents" always keeps going

I could`t agree more, been riding defensively for decades now, but still wonder at some bikers stupidity........
Filtering is always a dangerous manoeuvre at the best of times......in the worst.....it's a nightmare.
Glad it's only grazing Alex, heal up soon.....
