so had a go at raising the front, have about 3 3/4" of bolt showing above the cross member either side... is this about right?

That looks better, rear sligtly higher than the front.

Still a bit nervous about raising mine. Is it just a case of undoing the lock nuts and winding the bolt up or down? After raising the wheel off the ground. Same length of bolt showing both sides?

pretty much thats it, I used a trolley jack to lift the front and put axel stands under lowered onto the stands and then slackened off the lock nuts and tightened the torrsion bolts measuring how much bolt had come up then did it the same the other took it for a short ride to help settle and then did it again until I was happy with the height.... I haven't re indexed the torrsion bars....
