Mine is due in a month, last year the tester mentioned emmisions a bit high, nothing on the paperwork though.
What can cause them to be a bit high? |

I'm not saying i approve of it, or if it even works, but if your having emission problems there is a fluid kit you can buy in halfords, think it was redex kit or something like that. It's called mot emissions kit

The emissions on the older Td's are worse than the later ones, but the test criteria should be adjusted to suit. I usually thrash mine in each gear, red line it and hold a few seconds, I do this on a 10 mile run, but only after it is at running temperature. I do it the day before the MOT Never had any issues with my Td in dare I say it... in the 19+ years I have owned it...

I've just started adding 2 stroke oil into the fuel tank & i'm sure it's clearing out the crap inside the engine as my emissions were very good but it's also done a couple of long runs to this month plus i've driven it really hard getting the revs right up to blow the crap out

I was always told to let a diesel get up to operating temp, then drive the last half a mile to the test centre in a low gear, and keep the revs to about 3500, this blows the exhaust system through and cleans out any debris from when you first started it that day.
