as said, flexi hose collapsed in middle would be my guess, holding pressure in. or wheel bearing.....

then I am suspecting a HB cable problem or as as puddle hoppers says rubber hose acting as one way valve, (collapsed inside) but as you are jacking the chassis this hose is being stretched thus curing the problem when jacked up, my best guess anyway without seeing it, Rick

Hi again rick, if that was the case with the flex pipe wouldn't both rear drums be binding as it's only the one side but like you said it is the closest to the flexy pipe ???

Sorry missed that bit, then it is the HB cable snagging some place, or a wheel cylinder problem, I had a wheel overheat on a journey a while ago, it was the spring on the HB cable in the back plate, the washer that fits behind the lever had jumped out of position and jammed the lever, Rick

not over familiar with nissan but old vws, first checks you have done, then flexis then stone chip type damage to brake pipe then warped drum, if all else is applying releasing okay.

Its not the handbrake cable as I've even fitted an extra spring between the arm and one of the shoes to make sure it returns so it must be the cylinder even tho I put a new pair on in april but im not too worried as the factors will replace it under warranty. Even if I slacken the handbrake off all the way so it is useless it still binds on the one side.

Hi, to be honest I gave up in the end so was driving it around but with no handbrake as this is how I left it after swapping the drums and I was too lazy to adjust it, but then after a few days it stopped getting hot but I'm yet to adjust the handbrake up but I've got a felling it's going to be ok because I know the handbrake cable is working fine as the drum was getting hot even with the cable slackened right off.
