5 th MoT

Well the r3mR just passed its MoT test with one advisory - deterioration in a front drive shaft boot, new inner & outer boot from MIlner OR £17.50 pair price from Nissan £120 and outer boot on back order from Japan. No brainer !! Might have to keep it another year !!

mine failed today on a leaky brake pipe, tad bit of rust and some cotter pins missing that I'd forgot to put on the tie rod ends and ball joints I've fitted

Congrats on the pass.
Genuine Nissan Boots are of considerably better quality than the aftermarket ones but I agree that the price isn't justified. On a £ per year value they're probably about right! Genuine boot will last >10yrs and cost big bucks eg the £100 you were quoted, aftermarket will be a few tens and last a few years and can be a poorer fit.
One brand to steer clear of is Firstline but fortunately I don't think they make CV Boots...yet.
The rubber compound is so poor that you can fit a drop link and the balljoint dust boot can perish and split within 2 months. That was 6 years ago and they still haven't changed the rubber compound as I still see it happening at work!

For selling poor quality items like that.The should lined up against a wall And shot.End of.

I know you get what you pay for but the boots look the part and are marked up as OEM. They came with grease and clips and the moulding looks good quality.

In reality if I get two-three years that will do.

paid £30 odd quid for a genuine Merc inner boot on my previous 300 TE 4-Matic and they split after 18 months. They might have been in UK stock for a few years !

Last year I fixed the outer boot with self-sealing silicone tape and the MoT tester did not notice ! Best few quid I ever spent on e-bay !! Lol
