Hi Folks....( Newbie Alert!!)
Just joined up and have been having a good read through all the techie bits... a non owner at present but in 10 days time have 1500Kg of caravan to collect :? Not sure the 12 year old Mondeo will cope ops:
Looking at the moment for either a T2 or a Maverick, LWB 2.7 TDi preferably with working Aircon  Budget of £1500... From what I have read on the forums the LWB TDi should be a fantastic towcar and reasonably economical too... Have looked at 3 in the last 3 days and covered 400 miles in the process and not found 1 yet that would pull the skin off a decent rice pud! Certainly nothing that would give the rear tyres a tough time in the wet... which sounds rather fun being an old bloke who learnt to drive with RWD and went rallying in a Lada in the 80's : Why cant anybody be honest when selling?? An 'immaculate' interior to me doesnt include oil all over the seats and 'mechanically excellent' cars ought to at least start when the key is turned!?! Oh well will just have to keep looking... 10 days and counting down.... Anybody got a decent example to sell let me know... Not expecting showroom condition but solid and reliable would be good 8) Cheers all Chris |

Hiya mate and welcome to the nut house, My T2 recently pulled a horse box with to 2 big horses in it out of the soft sand on my local beach and the owners pajero just gave up so I had to go back for it. Mine also pulls the ladies, so I can kill two birds with the one stone lol

Hi Stoph & welcome to the club  If the T2's you've looked at are gutless then it's prob a dodgy Maf unit  once I replaced mine mine will even spin the rear tyres in the wet in 3rd gear & it handles very much like my old Capri in the wet to
Good luck on your hunt & i'm sure your dream T2/Mav is only hiding at the min |

This is what I want to hear!!!! T2's do actually have torque  I just need to keep looking till I find one thats not lost most of it!
Have found mentions of MAF sensors being the root of all evil but would rather buy one that drives properly for now... if it breaks later then I will have to fix it! Chris |

Hi and welcome aboard, where are you from? perhaps you have a club member nearby who can show you theirs so you know what you've been missing :
I used to tow a Swift Danette 5 berth with all the kit in it, first time out I had to stop up Blue Bank at Sleights near Whitby which scared me whitless but the T2 just set off as if there was nothing there. Jim T |
