suppose could consider ccc for rallys or DAs,
anti 'van comment came from 2 wardens of ccc, wolverley as we discussed and also Luss, loch lomond where a tent symbol on road meant we missed site first time and warden said dont want to encourage caravans. they also have a couple of sites or did that were tent only. we're in a yorkshire based rally group, but guess thats not much to all of you outside of god's own county!

well, I don't know how long ago all this tent bias was, but it's something i have never seen or heard of in many years association with the CCC. I do a lot of work at a couple of places that hold rallies for both the CCC and the CC (among other groups) and having sat back and watched both as a bystander the CCC usually have a lot less tents as the CC tent to take along a fair few pup tents! and the CC a lot less caravans as their rallies seem to be lot smaller.
I have also never heard of them having 'tent only' sites, but! In planning law you don't need any permission at all to have as many tents as you like. So inevitably there are a few camping sites in places where the local authorities would not grant permission for caravans. The 'five pitch' rule applies to tents only. My personal preference for the CCC is based on two things. 1. turn up at rallies 'as and when' rather than booking in advance 2. I have never been a member of the CC Anyway, i never intended this to be a contest between these two organisations merely gauging opinion regarding attending a rally as members of this club. I will find out a bit more about becoming an 'exempt organisation' when i get time and let you all know here is something to start with: http://www.clubs4caravans.co.uk/ |
