this one is 5.8 ghz , but as its basically a radio signal you are transmitting / recieving , it can and does get affected by surroundings ie walls etc , maybe worth a try tho . i dunno

I may consider 5.8ghz, but it'll be yet another product to sell on if it doesn't work. Might go for hard wire..

Maplin tech department have responded re: full refund..

Thank you for contacting Maplin Technical Support,
Providing the item is in a resaleable condition, there is no issue with this.

So no issue with having used it then...... Gotcha.......:thumb2

I await the apology from their customer complaints department. :augie :augie

Got them over a barrel now............ :clap :clap

i suspect that hard wire is your better option my friend , because as i posted previously , a sender unit is a transmitter /reciever so can be affected by surroundings ie walls .....good luck and well done with maplins :thumb2

Haven't got a refund yet, I know if I walk into my local branch, they will sort it straight away, it's now principle with the person at Maplin Crewe.:naughty

i suspect they mean 30 foot range as being " line of sight " :augie

I bought the more expensive item with the largest line of site range of 100 metres. So a wall or two shouldn't be an issue, if It was a faraday cage then fair enough.

In some of the houses built in the 70's they used breeze blocks made from slag from steel works, so may in fact be the issue, but how can you tell unless you test it.

Line of sight is one thing, I can see for 26 miles 'line of sight' but put a brick wall in the way and that drops a little bit :augie

Seriously, I had a fairly expensive one of these that wouldn't get into the next room unless I moved the telly in front of the door so it could 'see' the other one. Ok so its an old welsh cottage with 18 inch thick walls, but thats not the point.

Ended up paying Mr Sky another £10 a month for 'second room' service, worth thinking about if she wants to watch 24x7 Premier League Tiddlywinks....:)

create evidence,

clearly designed and sold for use in another room.

so video it on well a cam corder, phone camera whatever

demonstrate true line of side say gear in door way then thru wall
wohich could be nearer than door way apart from barrier.

afterall cant see anyone needing it in same room sold to get you tv
elsewhere with out cabling, just like wifi really.
