Another alternative, try another insurer with the same questions
Got fed up talking to the broker so called up the insurance company themselves. Plank, seems you're spot on so far. If I send the insurance company an engineer's report the insurance company will accept that. And they don't expect there should be any increase in the insurance premium. I did a check about change of vehicle registration details and it looks like its only possible to register an change in seating capacity for mini-buses or coaches with more than 8 seats. Hopefully will get another year or two out of the T2 before the kids get too big for all of us to fit in. Only downside is I'll probably have to go to the Nissan dealership to get the work done as there is not any MOT garages over here as the system is different.

a VAT registered garage should do the job, all you need is someone suitably qualified willing to put their name to the job Could you ask the insurance company who would qualify?

Last time they told me the underwriters just said an engineer but they couldn't tell me who qualified as an engineer other than the Nissan dealer. I'll get on to them again on Monday.
