Harewood Steam Rally
Has anyone been to Harewood Steam Rally? what a disappointment it was Saw Yorks and Humberside 4x4 Response, they were booked to put on a display at 4 but I really couldn't stay that long
If your thinking of going to the rally tomorrow, go to the seaside instead Jim |

Jim it always seems to be that there are too many steam rallies on the same day
in same part of country. few weeks a go we went to the sheffield steam association rally in north anston which is between j31 M1 and Worksop, which was pretty good, yet all the way there we were also following signs for another steam show i clumber park, just south of worksop, may be 5 miles away. beleive last week there was a big one at pickering and lincoln, ok bit more between but still yorks/lincs region.... we went to crich tramway for few hours yesterday, pretty good, they had a theme of blackpool tramways 125 anniversary, so plenty of b'pool trams out, liverpool oh and glasgow and london! there was a beach of play sand for the kids, and parked next to it was that charabang driven by chris barry in motor programme. the brown lnwr which was almost highlight for me to see, been better a ride in it! weather improved thru the day allowing us to enjoy a dry ride on the open sided 'toast rack' blackpool #2 before heading for home. adults £10.50 for entrance, ticket allows return visit within the 12 months. under 4s free.

There's a bit of a tale about rallies on the same day. Basically in the past there was one Leeds Steam Club, then they had a fall out and split into two. They both tried different venues but both on the same weekend. My old radio club used to run a stand at the biggest of the two but that was run by a company. The company has now gone bust so they are back to one Leeds Rally. I'm guessing there is still bad feeling as there were none of the usual engines. Surely lifes two short!!!
Pickering rally was at the start of August, keep threatening to go to that rally but never get there. Jim |

suppose if you drive your traction engine to events as a guy localish
to me does then thats something but most trailer them, boy do some of these guys have some fair heavy haulage gear, unless thats what the do in the week. one of the tractor units at last show was a super looking bonneted scania, with a low loader with curtain sides, crossed my mind that it then formed a 'garage' back at base for the traction engine. something else to spend my lottery winnings on....
