Defraggler is fine, we use it on some client servers, but to be honest I much prefer JK defrag because although it does use the windows defrag code it uses it MUCH more efficiently and does a much better job. JKDefrag is great because you can run it as you work - it will pause if what you are doing gets too busy to stop the pc slowing down, you can set it up as a screen saver, you can configure it in a number of different ways. Its great, and fast. defraggler is much the same, but its much more GUI based and for me, ever so slightly limited but that's looking at it from an IT perspective.
Defraggler is fine if you want it, otherwise stick with the original JKdefrag 3.36 http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/ |

I've been using the free Piriform C Cleaner for about five years (recommended at the time by Which magazine) with absolutely no problems and started using their defraggler about a year ago, again with no issues at all.
They are free because there is a small element of third party advertising attached to the programme, nothing to cause any concern or irritation, plus with each update they promote their more comprehensive and chargeable options. |
